Cinquantadue gradini portano in cima.
The Pontusval lighthouse is built on the tip of Beg-Pol, in the municipality of Brignogan-Plages. The construction of the lighthouse was decided after numerous shipwrecks on the coast, with no reports, especially at night, and was completed in June 1869. The first ignition took place on 15 September 1869.
The lighthouse acts as a link between the Île Vierge lighthouse and the Île de Batz lighthouse.
It is signaled at night by three occultations every twelve seconds. Fifty-two steps lead to the top. She lost her last keeper, Mrs Marie-Paule Le Gwen, in 2003. However, although she is no longer officially the lighthouse keeper, she still lives in her home.
The lighthouse (excluding the kitchen, veranda and garage) has since been classified as a historic monument on 23 May 2011.
